Bali Magic & Club Med
World Travellers has just had their yearly conference and what a place to have it.
We travelled Virgin Australia via Australia going from Auckland weather to be hit with 32degree as we stepped off the plane in Denpasar. A fantastic consistence temperature for the 5 days, going down a couple of degrees at night.
The Club Med is located in the Nusa Dua area just south of the airport. The Club is spoilt in that it covers are huge area giving you everything you want for a great holiday from 2 swimming pools, one for family and then the Zen pool for adults only. The boys tried their skill on the 6 hole golf course, tennis on one of the 6 courts, volley ball net, lessons at the archery, the fitness centre but we all drew the line at the trapeze nets and just left that to the kids.
The dining experience was out of this world with everything you could think of plus some. There was the main restaurant and then ‘The Deck’ restaurant open for late dining. A small and intimate area surrounded by water and a magical setting.
The highlight of the trip was taking the bike riding tour. We travelled 2 hours up to Ubud in vans where we met our guide before taking charge of brand new bikes, helmets and gloves for a 2 hour bike ride mainly downhill. We were very spoilt as we were a group of 12 enabling us to start the ride in the middle of the afternoon. We peddled through the villages as the locals were preparing for their evening with young and old bathing the streams, the workers coming home from the fields, the daily washing happening, the fires and cooking and what really was fantastic was seeing the children and parents interacting at the end of the day. We biked through the paddy fields with the setting sun giving a wonderful dappled light against the wonderful green fields. It was sad to see the tour finish as I could have kept biking.
