Day 1: Budapest (Embark)
Arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. If your cruise package includes a group arrival transfer or if you have arranged a private transfer, a Uniworld representative will greet you and transport you to the ship.
Day 2: Budapest
Budapest, the “Queen of the Danube,” enchants with its blend of East and West, medieval and modern. Divided by the Danube into Buda (the hills) and Pest (the flatlands), the city offers a rich tapestry of architectural styles reflecting its diverse history. Choose between a panoramic motorcoach tour including a visit to Parliament or a walking tour highlighting local favourites and key landmarks.
In the evening, enjoy a special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner.
Day 3: Cruising the Danube River, Vienna
Relax onboard as you cruise towards Vienna, taking in the stunning scenery from the Sun Deck. Later, experience a private Johann Strauss concert for a memorable evening.
Day 4: Vienna
Vienna, renowned for its art, music, and rich pastries, invites you to explore its imperial highlights, including Hofburg Palace, or engage in an interactive multimedia experience focused on Mozart’s works.
Day 5: Cruising the Wachau Valley, Weissenkirchen (Melk)
Wake up to the breathtaking beauty of the Wachau Valley, one of Europe's most picturesque river landscapes. Visit the charming village of Weissenkirchen and enjoy regional specialties and a wine tasting. Alternatively, explore the baroque splendour of Melk Abbey and its opulent library, or take a vineyard hike.
Day 6: Passau
Before reaching Passau, the ship will navigate the famous Schlögener Schlinge, a dramatic hairpin bend in the Danube. Discover Passau’s ornate baroque cathedral and well-preserved cityscape on a walking tour, spared from extensive WWII damage.
Day 7: Regensburg
Regensburg, Bavaria’s first capital, boasts a rich history and architectural heritage from its time as a Free Imperial City. Explore how this beautifully preserved medieval city blends with its vibrant modern counterpart.
Day 8: Nuremberg
Arrive in the historic city of Nuremberg, known for its gingerbread, pocket watches, and significant WWII history. Choose between a tour of a secret Nazi art bunker or an exploration of key WWII sites, including the Nazi Party Rally Grounds.
Onboard, enjoy a morning view of the Main-Danube Canal, a feat of modern engineering featuring 16 locks that lift your ship across the European continental divide.
Day 9: Bamberg
Explore Bamberg, a town rich in medieval charm built on seven hills, each topped with a church. Alternatively, venture into the Franconian countryside for an authentic rural experience, including a tractor ride. Spend the rest of the day cruising the serene Main River, taking in the picturesque scenery.
Day 10: Würzburg (Rothenburg)
Dock in Würzburg to visit the splendid Würzburg Residence, a baroque palace renowned for its opulence.
Day 11: Wertheim
Discover Wertheim, famous for its pretzels and historic wine estates. Meet a top pretzel maker and the owner of a local wine estate, or opt for a scenic bike ride.
Day 12: Frankfurt (Heidelberg)
Explore Frankfurt, known as “Mainhattan” for its blend of modern skyscrapers and historic Old Town. Choose a tour of this major European financial hub or visit the romantic city of Heidelberg and its Renaissance castle.
Day 13: Rudesheim
Experience the Rheingau region with a ride on the Rüdesheim mini-train for panoramic views, or visit a medieval monastery to taste Rieslings produced on site. Enjoy an afternoon cruise through the Middle Rhine Valley, known for its stunning scenery.
Day 14: Cologne
Tour Cologne’s Old Town, featuring medieval gates and the Renaissance-style city hall. Wander through the charming historical center and narrow alleys. Enjoy ample free time to explore the city on your own.
In the evening, attend a special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner.
Day 15: Amsterdam (Disembark)
Disembark the ship and, if included in your cruise package or arranged privately, transfer to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for your flight home.
