Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast canva

A tropical getaway just across the ditch

You don't need to venture too far afield to have your very own tropical beach escape. Queensland's Sunshine Coast, with its humid subtropical climate, beaches and array of national parks make it the ideal place to spend your winter break when the cold snap starts to hit in New Zealand.

The Sunshine Coast is home to more national parks than any other region in Queensland, including Noosa National Park, the Glass House Mountains National Park and Kondalilla National Park. Fraser Island off the coast is the world's largest sand island and well worth a visit for its World Heritage-listed landscape.

Then of course you have stretches of sandy beaches and thriving coastal towns serving up locally-produced coffee and cuisine with characteristic Aussie hospitality. Make your Sunshine Coast holiday as active or relaxing as you like: choose to shop up a storm and eat your body weight in food in Noosa, or escape fellow holidaymakers and swim with whales in Mooloolaba. We'd recommend hiring a car and continuing north to Cairns and the Daintree Rainforest, or heading south towards Brisbane and the Gold Coast for a classic Australian road trip adventure.
