SUNROCK GUEST COTTAGE, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA: 17th – 19th MAY

Day 1: Sunday 17th May

Arrive in Johannesburg, proceed to Sunrock

Day 2: Monday 18th May

In the morning experience life in the township and local history on a Soweto visit. See the home of Nelson Mandela, visit the Apartheid Museum, and visit the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Prize winners, Nelson Mandela and Bishop Desmond Tutu.

In the afternoon, visit the Capital City of Pretoria. See the houses of Parliament and other places of interest, and learn of the history of the early Boer settlers on a visit to the Voortrekker Monument

Day 3: Tuesday 19th May

Tour the Cullinan Diamond Mine, where the world’s largest diamond was discovered. The diamond was donated to the Royal Family, and forms part of the Crown Jewels.

You can choose to go on an underground tour, or else enjoy a surface tour with opportunity afterwards to explore the fascinating historical town of Cullinan

One of the original ‘Seven Wonders of the World’, the spectacular Falls, known by the locals as ‘the smoke that thunders’, is even more impressive in real life than in photos. Victoria Falls is also one of the world’s major adventure tourism destinations, offering a host of adventure activities. Day 4: Wednesday 20th May

On arrival, we will be collected from the airport and transferred to our Lodge.

In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River above the Falls, and sip your cocktails whilst watching the beautiful sunset over the river

Dinner will be at the Lodge

Day 5: Thursday 21st May

Enjoy wildlife viewing and an overnight camping experience in the Chobe National Park, Botswana, one of the top wildlife destinations in Africa. The trip will start with a cruise on the Chobe River, where you will see hippopotamus, crocodiles and a great variety of birdlife, as well as wildlife along the shores. This will be followed by lunch, and an afternoon game drive. In the evening arrive at the bush camp for dinner and a night in the African bush.

Day 6: Friday 22nd May

Return to Victoria Falls, with game viewing along the way.

Day 7: Saturday 23rd May

In the morning tour the Victoria Falls, an amazing experience, it certainly lives up to its status as one of the original seven wonders of the world

In the afternoon, there will be opportunity to view the Falls and surrounding area from above on a scenic Helicopter Flight. It provides a perspective not seen from the ground, a must do according to previous guests on tour

Dinner will be at the Jungle Junction Restaurant at the Victoria Falls Hotel, with an excellent meal accompanied by Tribal Dancing

ROBINS CAMP, HWANGE NATIONAL PARK, ZIMBABWE

Robins Camp is situated in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve. Now under private management, the revival of this iconic camp provides opportunity to explore this amazing area. Home to some of Africa’s last mega buffalo herds, and given the abundance of prey animals, this area is also home to the largest concentration of Lions in Hwange. Leopard, Cheetah and the Painted Dog are also found in the area, as well large Elephant herds, and species such as the Sable Antelope and the rare Roan Antelope. Enjoy a taste of wild Africa off the main tourist grid

ROBINS CAMP, HWANGE NATIONAL PARK, ZIMBABWE: 24th – 27th MAY

Day 8: Sunday 24th May

Transfer to Robins Camp, Hwange National Park.

In the afternoon, experience game viewing in the true wilds of Africa on a guided game drive

Day 9: Monday 25th May

Explore the area with morning and afternoon game drives

GUEST LODGE, HARARE, ZIMBABWE: 28th MAY

Harare is the capital city of Zimbabwe, and the major industrial hub of the country. The city is also known for its leafy residential areas with lush vegetation and gardens. We will stay at a Lodge in the residential area

Day 12: Thursday 28th May

In the morning, we will proceed to Victoria Falls, and board a flight to Harare

On arrival proceed to the Lodge

In the evening we will eat out at in a restaurant in town, and enjoy the night life in Harare

LEOPARD ROCK HOTEL, VUMBA MOUNTAINS, MUTARE

Situated in the picturesque Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe, Leopard Rock boasts one of the most scenic golf courses in the world, designed by the renowned Gary Player. With scenic views all round, this is a stunningly beautiful area to explore and enjoy

LEOPARD ROCK HOTEL, VUMBA MOUNTAINS, MUTARE: 29th – 30th MAY

Day 13: Friday 29th May

We have an early start and the first stop will be at Marondera, where we lived when in Zimbabwe. Out daughter and family live there, she is involved with an orphanage, and there will be a visit arranged to the orphanage. This will be followed by a farm visit, our son in law has an agency for Case Tractors, and he will arrange the farm visit.

After lunch we will proceed to our destination in what must surely be one of the most scenic places in the world

Day 14: Saturday 30th May

This will be a rest day, with activities of choice at Leopard Rock. Activities on offer include a forest walk, a walk in their game park, where you will see giraffe, zebra and many species of antelope. For the sports minded golf, tennis and other activities can be arranged.

Highly recommended is sundowners on the platform at game feeding time.

We will also arrange for afternoon tea at Tony’s Tea Gardens in the Vumba, world renowned for its decadent cakes and pure chocolate drinks, as well as a selection of coffee and teas.

LODGE AT THE ANCIENT CITY, MASVINGO, ZIMBABWE:

The Great Zimbabwe Ruins is one of the hidden gems of the world. The largest ruins in Africa after the great Pyramids of Egypt, this impressive structure bears evidence of a great civilization that existed in ancient times. The Inn on the Ancient City is built to match the style of the ruins

INN ON THE GREAT ZIMBABWE, MASVINGO, ZIMBABWE: 31st MAY – 1st JUNE

Day 15: Sunday 31st May

Proceed to the Inn at the Ancient City

Day 16: Monday 1st June

Experience a touch of the mystical as you visit the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, an amazing structure, with informative commentary by an experienced guide. The fascinating and impressive ruins speak of an impressive ancient civilization who once inhabited this part of Zimbabwe

Day 17: Tuesday 2nd June

After breakfast, we will proceed to Harare

Dinner will be at a restaurant in town
