Cruising Fiji - Yasawa Islands with Captain Cook Reef Endeavour
We had an awesome time aboard the MV Reef Endeavour for our three night stay through the Yasawa Islands. The staff were absolutely brilliant (in particular with children), the onboard facilities far exceeded our expectations, and the shore excursions included snorkelling, village tours and a island school visit that were certainly the highlights of the trip!
We stayed in a Stateroom, which although compact, wasn't really an issue for the time you spend in it. The beds are very comfortable and bathrooms clean. Other families opted for interconnecting rooms, which is a superb idea as it not only offers space for the kids, but well deserved peace and quiet for mum and dad.
All shore excursions are done by the use of tenders - or small boats - that are hydraulically lowered from the back of the ship. This included a glass bottomed boat that was captained by Jimmy who took us to some amazing snorkelling and beach spots every day. There are also Dive instructors onboard for those that wanted a dive the gorgeous South Pacific waters.
Another plus is that the ship only caters for a maximum of 130 passengers.
A few tips ....
* Book an interconnecting cabin if travelling with the kids.
* Make the most of the kid's club and the special kid's dinnertime.
* Bring good sunscreen, hats, and rash shirt for snorkelling.
* The temperature is normally 26 - 31 degrees
* Take your own snorkel and mask - or get stuck with a well used and possibly leaky loan mask.
* Flippers are available on board.
If you're planning a trip to Fiji and looking for something different, then absolutely consider cruising the Yasawa Isands aboard MV Reef Endeavour! It's a FANTASTIC way to see all that Fiji has to offer.
