Postcard from Thailand
Wow, we’ve been home 2 weeks and I don’t know where that has gone. Anyway just thought I would send you a brief overview of our holiday. We had an amazing holiday, one of the best and we will definitely be going back.
We loved Thailand the best, but Vietnam comes a close second, we had a great time there too. I think it’s the experiences you have in a country is what makes it what it is.
The week out of Bangkok, we are so glad we went to Sangklaburi. It was a bit out of the way, but really worth while going to as we got to see real Thailand there. The jungle rafts accommodation on the river Kwai was also a highlight of that tour. Up in the north we had another fantastic guide for a week travelling around Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai region, we just learnt so much. We thought Chiang Mai was a lovely city, much nicer than Bangkok. The overnight train trip up to Chiang Mai from Bangkok was not too bad for the overnight compared to the Vietnam overnight train. The 2 day boat trip along the Mekong to Laos was really great. We are so glad we did this. Laos is a country we definitely want to go back and spend some time in.
Hanoi was bloody crazy and cold but a lovely hotel, and there was a lot to see and do in Hanoi with regard to Vietnam history. Halong Bay was very cold but amazingly beautiful and we are really glad we did the 2 day junk boat cruise. Some people on it had been up to Sapa and said it was even colder up there. We all loved Hoi An, The tailoring experience was great fun for everyone, Yayly Couture (Ken the biggest shopper) and what a neat little place, just great.
We loved Nga Trang too, good hotel choice. I think being at the beach and warming up was good for us, we could have stayed there a couple more days. Ho Chi Minh was a good city to finish Vietnam in. The Cu Chi tunnels, the history again was so interesting. Then it was back to Thailand to the beaches. Well you can’t really call down there the real deal Thailand but we loved it and will be going back.
Krabi was a good taste for our first beech but Phi Phi Island was beautiful. We loved it out there and were very happy you booked us in at the top of the island. After that Kata Beach was also a great choice for us, loved the hotel, I could have stayed there a week, a lot of Russians though.
Both Thailand and Vietnam are wonderful countries to visit, the people were so friendly and always doing their best to please you.
Anyway there is a brief on the holiday, we all loved it so much.
Thank you for being such a great travel agent for us, give me a call if you want to have a chat.
