Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Broome, Derby
Depart for Derby this morning, visiting the Boab Prison Tree today along the way. Measuring 14 metres wide and estimated to be more than 1,500 years old, this significant tree was once used by early police patrols as a holding point for prisoners. This afternoon, enjoy your exploration of Derby, starting with some free time for lunch. Visit the Norval Gallery, run by a Kimberley artist husband and wife team Mark and Mary Norval. The gallery showcases their own insightful work alongside the artwork of many Indigenous artists from the Kimberley region. Tonight, settle into your accommodation and enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers.
Day 2: Derby, Bell Gorge
The famous Gibb River Road takes you to Bell Gorge, where cliffs surround a series of tiered waterholes. You might like to cool off with a dip at the top of the falls. Tonight, enjoy an Insider Experience at your wilderness lodge.
Day 3: Manning Creek, Galvans Gorge
Visit picturesque Manning Creek and enjoy lunch in the shade of the area’s impressive boab trees before taking a refreshing dip in the pristine water. At Galvans Gorge, take a short walk to a natural waterhole for another relaxing swim.
Day 4: El Questro
Set off on a walk to Emma Gorge today. A spectacular oasis awaits, where you can take a refreshing dip beneath the gorge’s tumbling waterfall while shaded by its towering cliffs. You can also choose to take an optional Chamberlain Gorge cruise.
Day 5: El Questro, Kununurra
You may wish to enjoy today at leisure in Kununurra, or you can take an optional cruise of the Ord River.
Day 6: Kununurra, Purnululu National Park
Treat yourself to a magical day in Purnululu National Park with a hike to Echidna Chasm. Wander through the otherworldly cleft, gazing up at the narrow cliffs as they reach up to 200 metres towards the sky. Later, transfer to your beautiful lodge.
Day 7: Purnululu National Park
Enjoy a full day to explore some of Purnululu National Park’s most beautiful locations. Experience the incredible natural acoustics of Cathedral Gorge, a vast amphitheatre of vibrant rock created by erosion over millions of years. Later, stroll along Piccaninny Creek winding your way through the park’s unique landscapes. Alternatively, you can take to the skies on an optional helicopter flight.
Day 8: Halls Creek, Yiyili, Fitzroy Crossing
Head to Halls Creek and admire the unusual China Wall. A natural quartz formation which runs for six kilometres, the wall is an echo of the Great Wall of China, after which it was named. Continue on towards Fitzroy Crossing, a small settlement situated on the Fitzroy River. This afternoon, enjoy an Insider Experience.
Day 9: Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge, Depart Broome
Continue to Tunnel Creek today, where you can wade through its refreshing waters as you work your way along Western Australia’s oldest cave system to a hidden oasis. You’ll also visit Windjana Gorge, where ancient marine fossils lay embedded in the imposing and beautiful gorge walls. Later, drive to Broome where your tour ends.
