South Africa

Welcome to the rainbow nation

South Africa is also known as "the rainbow nation" for the colourful mix of cultures and languages that form its contemporary identity. With 11 official languages (and many more unofficial ones) and a vibrant melting pot of ethnicities that call this country home, it's a unique place to explore. Despite its recent history during the apartheid era it makes a fabulous travel destination, filled with once-in-a-lifetime cultural experiences and incredible wildlife.

Head up Table Mountain's cable car for a panoramic view of Cape Town, one of the country's three capital cities. Head to Kruger National Park to see if you can spot the "Big 5" - elephant, lion, rhinoceros, leopard and buffalo - on the safari of a lifetime. Turn your adventure into a romantic getaway at a luxurious safari lodge, or enjoy a bush camp experience with the kids on what is sure to be a truly memorable family holiday.

Our expert travel consultants love planning trips to South Africa as we know that anyone who travels here returns feeling truly amazed and inspired by what they've encountered. We'll help you craft the adventure of a lifetime that's suited to your needs and budget.

Tips and advice from our travel advisors

If you are planning your South African holiday make sure you do your safari first. Luggage allowance on the flights into the game parks can be 15kg. You can add to that luggage allowance by shopping in Cape Town or Dubai on the way home!
