Experience your backyard differently

We're incredibly lucky to live in a country like New Zealand that is touted as a paradise on earth by the many international travellers who have journeyed to our shores. We may take a lot of this country for granted, but if you stop and think about it for a moment and you'll realise we have some of the most magical places on earth.

The rugged black sand beaches of the west coast, the splendid snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps, incredible walking & hiking trails, pristine beaches, forests filled with the calls of native birdlife, spectacular train journeys, internationally-renowned wineries, culinary delights, and so much more await. There's no better time than right now to rediscover what's right in front of you: a paradise on earth just waiting to be explored.

Our expert travel consultants all over New Zealand have a wealth of knowledge and expertise planning trips large and small. Tips and advice from our travel advisors

Stewart Island should be added to every traveller's bucket list. It is visually stunning. It is a surprising mix of white sand beaches, tiny forested islands home to a mass of native birdlife and the friendliest locals around.

Drive up Te Mata Peak in Havelock North for a fantastic rural view. Definitely check out a local winery or two (there are over 70 in the Hawke's Bay region!), drive along Marine Parade and through town to check out the Art Deco buildings, and perhaps visit Hot Chick for some yummy rotisserie chicken by the beach.

Abel Tasman National Park is a beautiful place. You can kayak on the Motueka River, climb Mt Arthur or Mt Owen, or go to beautiful Golden Bay. You would need a month to see what’s on offer here.

My favourite spots to go in Hamilton are the Hamilton Gardens, Hamilton Zoo, the Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum, Waikato Stadium to see the Chiefs play, the Riff Raff statute, Waitomo, Fly with Kiwi Balloon Company, as well as Raglan and Hobbiton which are both close by.

Make your way around the Otago Peninsula, stopping off at Larnach Castle, the Royal Albatross Centre and Penguin Place. Drive down the low road and back over the high road into the city for a coffee or wine overlooking St Clair beach.

A tour of our farm in Ikawai that has been in the family for more than 100 years is a must, followed by a hike up to the White Horse monument then lunch at the Harvest Bar and Kitchen.
