San Francisco was a city I had always wanted to visit it has always looked so stunning in Movies!
I arrived into San Francisco just as the Giants baseball team had gone through to its first world series since 1962 and not knowing a lot about baseball I was told this was a VERY big deal! The atmosphere in the city was fantastic !
I stayed in a hotel a few blocks from Geary St walking distance to Chinatown and Union square I found getting around this city really easy the public transport system was easy to understand and use as long as you had the correct change!
A boat trip out to Alcatraz is a must do and something I had always wanted to see and it did not disappoint you purchase your ticket which includes the ferry and a headset guided tour you need to pick your departure time and you can return on which ever boat you choose, I would allow at least 2 hours to have a good look around Alcatraz, I was lucky enough to meet an actual inmate who was having a book signing there at the time although a free man now he served 60 years in prison for bank robbery.
After arriving back on dry land I walked along the foreshore to Fishermans wharf then up to the famous Cable car stop, being the last on I got to stand on the rim of the car holding onto the side and you really do need to hold on! It is amazing how the drivers steer these cars down the steep hills.
I found San Francisco a lively, beautiful and cultured city it’s not hard to see why it features so heavily on the big screen, would love to go back one day!
