The altitude is high!
Many places in Colorado sit at high elevations, including Denver, which is about 1 mile (1.6 km) above sea level. Higher mountain towns and parks like Rocky Mountain National Park are even higher. You may feel altitude sickness, so it’s important to drink plenty of water, rest, and take time to adjust.

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most famous natural attractions in Colorado. Visitors can see snow-capped peaks, alpine lakes, forests, and wildlife such as elk and deer. The park also features the scenic Trail Ridge Road, one of the highest paved roads in North America.
