Things you should know about Vietnam

Street food is a trademark of Vietnam. With bustling night markets and plentiful safe and cheap options that are bursting with flavour, the best way to experience true Vietnamese cuisine is on a plastic stool on the side of the road.

The second largest global exporter of coffee, Vietnam has a coffee culture like no other. Traditional brewing methods meet modern flavour combinations to put a fresh spin on the classic cup. We promise the only thing that will disappoint you is that your local cafe back home doesn’t serve coffee with condensed milk …

Affectionately known for its super friendly locals, Vietnam truly gives travellers the opportunity to explore local culture. Because everyone is so friendly, don’t hesitate to make friends and spend some time doing what they love to do. Trust us, it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

Tips and advice from our travel advisors

Pay the extra for your Vietnam visa. Don’t wing it at the border – the line can be very long. Instead, pay the money for it and get it done here beforehand, and you will be first through customs.

Book private sightseeing tours to do the things you want to do. They are often reasonably priced still and allow you more freedom, choice and time to see what you want to see and do. When we were there we were on a private food scooter tour and were absolutely treated like royalty. We passed another tour that had 13 people on it which was very hectic and everyone was sort of jockeying for the best position to see/do/taste.
