September 2023. Diving into the world of travel for the first time! What a crazy, fun, and exciting industry to say the least… from answering the phone on my first day to booking someone to Kyrgyzstan 8 months later! You never know what to expect when someone’s walking through the door. Over the first few days of working as a Galaxy Gal you start to learn that booking a holiday is far more complex than just picking a destination and a hotel. It’s like being a detective and a matchmaker rolled into one. You have to consider clients' preferences, interests, and expectations, which can range from relaxation to adventure and everything in between. Following that, getting the right flights to suit, multiple airlines to consider, and even stop over destinations. So much to remember yet so much to learn. Every day I discover something new or encounter changes in things I thought I already knew. Travel is always evolving, and that's what keeps it so fascinating. In my 21 years of life, I've been fortunate to visit 8 countries, with 4 of those trips happening just this year. From the hustle and bustle in New York to the beautiful waters of Fiji, the culture in Vanuatu and a delicious Singapore Sling.
I’ve learnt so much over the past 12 months, in and “mostly” out of the office, as the girls would say, soaking up every bit of knowledge I can. By experiencing destinations myself, it makes it that much easier to sell it to you. Bring on next year! I can’t wait for all the new challenges and opportunities to come.
